It's an exciting time for the Governors Club as we undergo an over two million dollar renovation to the entire Clubhouse! Since opening our doors in 1982, the membership has added the The Grille in 1992, The Balcony in 1996, the Lounge in 2006 and the Patio in 2017. Now its time to ensure your Club is visually appealing and engaging for many more years to come as we modernize the facilities while preserving its historical features and southern charm.
Renovations will occur in two phases over the course of the next two summers. Phase One will encompass the entire second and third floors and will be executed between June and October of 2019. Phase Two will focus on the Grille, foyer, and grand staircase and is expected to be completed during the summer of 2020.
Careful consideration has been given in choosing the right designers for this project as it was important to find the firm with the right experience to ensure the redesign reflects the Club’s essential character. The Board of Governors selected Susan Bozeman Designs, Inc. of Atlanta, GA. Susan Bozeman, founder and her Senior Vice President Jeff Barrett are personally working on our project. Susan understands the needs of a club with southern roots and has worked with many clubs throughout the Southeast.
Check back often to see images of the renovation underway. It's an exciting time to be a member of the Governors Club with the anticipation of the wonderful improvements coming, and it's equally exciting for the staff. We look forward to serving you in your beautiful new Clubhouse this fall! Our goal is to fully complete the Interior Enhancement Plan just in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Governors Club!
